Residents Grow Golf Community at Rolling Greens Village

Rolling Greens Village Golf Course

One of the best-kept golf secrets in Ocala, Florida, is at the center of Rolling Greens Village. To outsiders, Rolling Greens is your typical 55+ community in central Florida. But there’s much more going on beyond the entrance, including a stunning 18-hole golf course that’s more popular than ever.

The best part?

Rolling Greens Executive Golf Course is open to residents and the public.

What’s New at Rolling Greens Executive Golf Course

Recent changes and a strong resident-run golf association are making the Ocala golf course and driving range more popular than ever. Community volunteers see the change with recent scrambles doubling in size in the last year.

“It’s a little work, but it’s a lot of fun,” shared Joe Jutras, the president of the Rolling Greens Golf Association. “We have a lot of fun coming together for a good time Tuesday through Friday.”

Recruiting new golfers to Golf Association events didn’t happen overnight.

The resident-run golf board meets monthly to plan tournaments, charity events, and weekly scrambles.

“I’ve been here five years, and it’s the first time we’ve had 72 people come to play on a Friday. We had a group at every hole.”

It’s a big achievement for the par 60 course, which is surrounded by the 55+ community, resort amenities, and the Ocala National Forest

Regular events include:

  • Tuesday – Ladies’ Day
  • Wednesday – Men’s Day
  • Thursday – Couples’ Day
  • Friday – Golf Scramble

The Golf Association also partners with the local Lions Club, the Pro Shop, and community leaders on charity golf tournaments like the March 2026 fundraiser. Tournaments like these raise a combined $20,000 in two years for local charities like the Florida Center for the Blind and the Marion County Therapeutic Riding Association, according to organizers.

“We give back to the community, and it’s always a great time.”

The busy calendar doesn’t stop there for rolling Greens golfers. The Golf Association hosts regular tournaments on the first and third Saturday of each month. There’s a Member Championship, a League Championship, and Glo Ball Tournaments.

Ocala Golf Course Offers Free Monthly Golf Clinics

There’s also a new wave of Ocala residents in the 55+ community learning to golf. Joe credited the new golf clinics hosted by the team in the Executive Golf Course Pro Shop. The monthly clinics are free for Executive Golf Course members and Rolling Greens residents

“The residents are loving it,” said the Golf Association President.

Pro Shop Manager Jeff Harding and Jordon Duttlinger host the 90-minute clinics twice a month. The pair focuses on the fundamentals.

“The residents like the interaction with Jeff and Jordan. They could be chipping, putting, or just hitting the ball off the tee. They show golfers where to stand and how to correct things for a better shot.”

It’s these little extras that go a long way for residents who own a manufactured home within the active adult community, according to Joe.

“Residents were ecstatic. It’s something extra, and we don’t have to pay for it. The pro shop team is willing to work with us and make us better golfers.”

Joe also credited the Executive Course team with the quality of the Ocala golf course.

Comparing Golf Courses in Ocala, FL

“It’s very interesting because this golf course is probably in better shape than many of the ones that we played outside Rolling Greens.”

There’s a noticeable difference in course quality for golfers booking a tee time at Rolling Greens Executive Golf Course. Joe notices it from the fairways, to the greens, and even the approaches.

“The team does a fantastic job. For this little course to be as nice as it is, it’s great to play on.”

It’s also affordable. Rolling Greens residents receive a discount when they golf. However, the rates are comparable even for the public. Non-residents pay less than $50 for 18-holes.

Joe knows the difference because he doesn’t solely golf at Rolling Greens Village. Members of the Golf Association travel on Tuesdays to play the surrounding courses outside of the 55+ community.

There are more than 2,000 golf courses spread across Florida. Ocala, in particular, offers golf courses to fit every level of golfer.

There’s the nearby Ocala Golf Club, which offers dining at the 19th Hole. Or explore Baseline Golf Course in Ocala, where tee times aren’t required.
You’ll find top-ranked courses like Juliette Falls Golf Club, only ten miles from Ocala. The par-72 course was voted one of the best golf courses in Florida in 2025. The prestige will cost you more at courses like Juliette Falls and Chandler Hills Golf Course. Chandler Hills, also located in Ocala, features a Palm Springs-style landscape with tees ranging from 4,877 to 7,233 yards.

Embracing Florida Golf Course Living at Rolling Greens

There’s no need to spend top dollar on golf if you’re still learning. That’s the beauty of Rolling Greens Executive Golf Course. The course isn’t too long.

“It’s not that difficult. It’s fairly open,” explained Joe, “ If someone is learning to play. It’s a great place to bring people.”

Golf is everybody’s game at Rolling Greens Executive Golf Course.

It’s a sentiment the Rolling Greens Golf Association stressed to new homeowners in the community.

“Play to your ability. None of us here are pros.”

There’s a misconception among new residents that they aren’t good enough to play the course.

“Everybody’s good enough, especially in a scramble, because we’re playing best ball.”

For community leaders like Joe, it’s about more than how many swings you take. It’s a social event, and it’s a balance. Don’t stress about your short game. But don’t let the size of the Executive Golf Course fool you either. It offers challenges even for experienced golfers.

Joe knows because he has a long history with the course. He first golfed it with his father-in-law, who moved to Rolling Greens in 2006.

“I said, ‘Oh, this course is nothing. And the first day I shot 90,” laughed Joe. “And my father-in-law said, ‘It’s nothing, huh?’”
