Dealing with Damage

Applying for Federal Hurricane Relief

Homeowners may be eligible for federal disaster assistance if their manufactured home sustains damage during a hurricane. 

It’s important to safely assess and document the damage left by hurricane-force winds, storm surges, or debris. 

You can see if you qualify for FEMA disaster assistance, apply, and check application deadlines online following the storm.

Need help evacuating? There is a shuttle system to help. FEMA recommends calling the 1-800-729-3413 for evacuation assistance if you are in a county with an evacuation notice in place.

Please do not return to a community until you get the go-ahead from our management team. Cove Communities follows county and state safety protocols to provide a safe reopening for areas that have been evacuated during a storm.

  • How to apply for FEMA assistance.

  • If you do not qualify for FEMA you may qualify for an SBA loan.

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District has opened Operation Blue Roof through Tuesday, November 5. This program is a free service for homeowners and permanently occupied rental properties, providing fiber-reinforced, industrial-strength sheeting to protect storm-damaged roofs until homeowners can make permanent repairs.

    Residents impacted by Hurricane Milton can sign up for this no-cost service by visiting blueroof.gov, calling 888-ROOF-BLU (888-766-3258), or visiting a Right of Entry (ROE) collection center throughout the affected areas. ROE collection center locations are listed on blueroof.gov, where residents can sign up for Blue Roof assistance using an ROE form, which gathers information about the residence.

Debris

  • We are currently in the process of removing any limbs and trees that pose a threat to residents’ homes.
  • A dumpster will arrive on Thursday, October 17 and stay onsite unit October 25 for clean up. The dumpsters primary purpose is going to be used for any drywall and aluminum. The following items CANNOT be placed in this dumpster:
    • No food or wet waste
    • No clothing or oily rags
    • No batteries or auto parts
    • No drums or, liquids or chemicals
    • No batteries or auto parts
    • No appliances or electronics
    • No hazardous waste
    • No dirt /Soil
  • Please bring yard debris and aluminum to the front yard by the street.
  • Do not put anything in the street.

  • Tree services are working in the community and will be addressing the trees Camelot Lakes is responsible for per the contract with the HOA, that have damage or have fallen, those include live oaks, sweet gum trees, Australian pines, Queen palms and Sable palms.
    • If you have a tree issue with trees on your lot that are not the responsibility of Camelot Lakes as per the agreement with the HOA, please sign up at the information center in the Clubhouse Lobby and when they have completed their initial work they will come around and give you a fair and discounted quote for your service.

What’s Open:

  • Clubhouse, fitness center, athletic courts, and pool are all now open.
  • Laundry room will remain closed until further notice.

  • The Indoor Pool is open. The sliding glass doors are closed, please do not try to open them.
  • The Outdoor Pool is open.
  • The Marina is open.
  • The Boil Water Advisory has been rescinded.
  • Utilities are intermittent as infrastructure repairs are still ongoing.
  • Water line repairs are in-progress.
  • Repairs also needed / in-progress at the activity center, bocce ball court, main office sewer line, and entrance gates.

Hurricane Clubhouse Policy

Cove clubhouses are not certified for hurricane safety. It is crucial that you have an evacuation plan in place, as other Cove buildings and clubhouses will not be available for shelter during a hurricane.

Community Safety Protocols

Guests shall place all outdoor property inside their units. If a guest abandons their property during a storm or fails to take the proper preparations, the Community Management may, in its sole discretion, enter the guest’s site and take any steps necessary to secure the site, including removing electricity to the unit if deemed necessary for the safety of the community. The Community Manager may make additional requests to maintain resident and community safety.

Please be advised that you will be responsible for any damage caused by the failure to comply with community safety protocols.
