The enchantment of Maine extends from rocky ocean cliffs, lighthouse vistas, and lakes that leave you with a sense of wonder. The natural surroundings provide an ideal location for gorgeous golf courses. Perfectly situated on Point Sebago’s Campground, this 18-hole Golf Course beckons you to enjoy the best of golf in Maine. We sat down with the newest Golf Director to get to know him and hear his take on key features of the course.

PGA golfer, Matthew Lowell

Meeting Matt, PGA Pro

Upon completing his coursework within the Professional Golf Management (PGM) program at Methodist University, Matthew Lowell continued to play in the PGA for five years, earning him the coveted Player of the Year Award during that time. Lowell now calls Point Sebago Golf Resort his home and offers lessons and industry advice to everyone venturing out to play these hallowed greens.

Golf Course Quality & Design

Point Sebago’s dynamic course was designed by architects George Sargent and Phil Wolgan in 1995. They developed an outstanding front and back nine built to challenge, yet delight even the most experienced golfers. Trees line either side of the course and can make hitting accuracy tough, testing exactly that wisdom.

“I am most proud of the greens and how well the course is maintained,” said Lowell. “The practice facility is top tier. Let it be known that the 17th hole challenges the brave with a 202-yard-par-three. The 18th hole is your par-five distanced at 527 yards from the back tee.” Lowell advises, “Long of the green and short right are great spots,” then continues, “If you are debating between two clubs, go with the shorter one.”
