Fort Myers RV Resort is On the Road to Giving

Blueway Lagoon- RV hookups with waterfront views

When it comes to supporting great causes, few places do it better than Blueway RV Park in Fort Myers, Florida. This isn’t just your typical RV park—it’s a community with a heart as big as its beautiful resort amenities.

Guests enjoy the comforts of full hookup RV sites or travel trailer rentals and access to swimming pools and state parks. Making a difference in the lives of others is a bonus for guests, outside of enjoying all there is to offer in the community.

Blueway RV guests helped raise more than $5,000 for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and supported local gems like FK Your Diet in the 2024-2025 RV season.  It’s proof that Blueway RV isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a place where generosity thrives.

Local Restaurant Near Blueway RV Inspires Giving

The generosity extends to local businesses like FK Your Diet. The local eatery is a standout restaurant in Fort Myers, FL with a bold name and an even bolder mission.

FK, short for Foster Kid, is owned and operated by Doug Miller and his girlfriend Amy Eldridge.

The name “FK Your Diet” is a cheeky play on words, but it carries a deeper meaning. Doug grew up in the foster care system so the restaurant’s name honors that journey.  A portion of the proceeds from the restaurant goes directly toward supporting foster kids and foster families in the community.

Their passion? Feeding people, no matter what. And not just with food—but with love, dignity, and a side of humor.

This southwest Florida spot became a lifeline after Hurricane Ian hit hard. Doug, Amy, and their team fed first responders, delivered essentials to Fort Myers families, and opened their doors to anyone in need—no questions asked. FK Your Diet continued to help months after Hurricane Ian.

Their generosity inspired the team at  Blueway to give back too.

The Blueway RV Park crew saw that spirit and decided to return the favor. A small group from the park visited FK Your Diet for breakfast. But they weren’t just there for the infamous gravy-soaked biscuits. The FK supporters went to hand over a heartfelt $2,500 donation raised by park guests.

Blueway RV Park’s fundraising efforts were a true testament to the power of community. One guest started with a simple $1 donation challenge, asking others to match it. Soon enough the movement gained momentum, raising $333. Another guest crafted a beautiful handmade Afghan, which was then auctioned off to the highest bidder for $600.

Guests also organized bake sales and sold pup cups in the park. These small but impactful efforts show how even the most simple fundraising methods can be successful when the community comes together. Every penny raised went directly to supporting FK Your Diet and its mission to help local foster kids and families in need.

The money raised provides essential items for the brand-new foster care home in nearby San Carlos Park called Bridge and Beyond. This isn’t just any home—it’s part of a community-driven initiative that takes a fresh approach to foster care.

Bridge and Beyond will offer 24/7 care for up to 12 children, ages 10 to 17. The kids will receive a safe, stable, and healing environment for those overcoming abuse, neglect, or abandonment. And of course, Doug and Amy are already onboard.

Supporting DAV – Blueway RV Park’s Big Impact

Blueway employees and guests also stepped up in a big way for Disabled American Veterans (DAV). They raised a combined $5,000+ during the Cove’s Got Talent fundraiser

Cove’s Got Talent is an annual event that brings together communities across Cove properties to support a great cause. Preliminary competitions are held at individual communities, where residents and guests showcase their talents. Winners from each location move on to compete for a $2,500 grand prize at the finale in Lakeland, Florida. It’s a fun and creative way to connect, but the heart of the event is all about giving back. Every performance helps raise money for Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Residents got creative, organizing taco nights, pancake breakfasts, and ice cream socials to bring people together and collect donations. Park staff don’t accept tips, but they encourage anyone who wants to show appreciation to donate to the DAV fund instead.

Even the kids joined the cause! Staff donated money raised by the youngest guests, who sold snow cones during a cornhole tournament.

The twist? Not a single Blueway guest competed in the Cove’s Got Talent show itself in Lakeland, Florida

Instead, the community hosted their own local talent event, which sparked even more participation and support from residents and guests.

Why Blueway RV Park Feels Like Home

Blueway RV Park is known for its great location and relaxing atmosphere. It’s surrounded by natural beauty and just a short drive from Estero Bay State Park. It feels like a vacation, but with all the comforts of home – if your home had a dog park, swimming pools, and a miniature golf course.

What really makes Blueway special, though, is the people.

This is a family-friendly RV resort that comes together, not just to have fun, but to make a difference. The resort is busy during winter months with snowbirds escaping northern states and families looking for a vacation destination.

It’s a community where veterans feel seen, kids feel empowered, and no one is left out. It’s also pet-friendly, so your furry family members can feel right at home too. Whether you’re passing through or staying the season, the sense of belonging here is undeniable.

Find your home away from home in Fort Myers when you book your next vacation at Blueway RV Park.
